Meet the instructors:

Laura Burt

Laura Burt took her first yoga class in 2001 while attending Ohio State. Her first instructor was Laurel Hodory, owner of It's Yoga, Columbus. There, Laura was introduced to the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and was fortunate enough to meet Larry Schultz, owner of the original It's Yoga in San Francisco, while attending one of his workshops in Columbus. Laura received her primary teaching certification from Schultz and though she appreciates and studies various forms of yoga, her primary practice is Ashtanga. She has been teaching since 2002.

Laura is committed to total physical and mental well-being: She has completed an Ironman Triathlon, coached goalkeepers for men's and women's soccer teams and played various sports through high school and college. Yoga has helped her achieve a more focused and healthy approach to her own training and has helped her through many sport related injuries.

If Laura were to have her students know one thing about Yoga 101, it's that yoga isn't just about achieving postures. She hopes to teach that the practice is a full, body-mind experience. Yoga can be physically and mentally challenging, but it is also meditative, calming and empowering. In every sense, Laura encourages her students to have fun on the mat and welcomes students of all levels to experience the benefits of the practice.
